4O1! is proud to announce the relaunch of Go Pet Friendly, a pet travel website dedicated to those wishing to vacation with their furry and feathered friends.
Amy and Rod Burkett sniffed high and low for vacation spots for the whole family, which included their two beloved dogs. After many unsuccessful searches, it was clear that the internet needed a site for people who want to travel with their pets. With that in mind, they created GoPetFriendly.com to make it easy for travelers to find places that welcome pets, from hotels and campgrounds to restaurants and beaches.
Amy and Rod came barking up our tree and 4O1! developed the company logo and mascot, Scout, for their launch in 2009. Another talented developer, Joshua Gilper, worked alongside 4O1! and the collaborative effort yielded the final product of the GPF website.
In 2011, 4O1! redesigned Go Pet Friendly’s blog, Take Paws. The updated blog had such a fresh look that in October 2012, the team at 4O1! worked their magic on the main pages of the site for a tailored, cohesive look. New features were added, like the “Search by City” option, allowing users to plan trips based on a geographical location.
Chris Koelle, our pet friendly Senior Developer, added many updates to the site. “We wanted the site to be more community oriented. We’ve achieved that with the ‘Add a Listing’ and ‘Edit a Listing’ features. Users can share their experiences and by doing so, help other users with vacations of their own.”
Another cool new feature is the Road Trip Planner. If you’re thinking of packing up the pooches in your Winnebago, tap into this feature. Enter your desired destination and an itinerary will be generated including where you’ll stay, where you’ll eat, and plenty of activity options for you and Spot.
The dog days of shipping your pet off to a kennel are over. Amy and Rod recognized the need for a pet travel website, and the designers and developers of 4O1! made it happen with a site that is informative, user friendly and visually appealing. Because of GoPetFriendly, traveling with your pet is now a walk in the park!
